Some surprises (not many) were Marion Cotillard besting Julie Christie and the shocking win for Tilda Swinton-- maybe she has a legitimate shot at Oscar (where else could Michael Clayton really be honored.) The win for Atonement was probably expected, but likely won't make too much of a difference with the Oscar. Past Best Film BAFTA winners include:
2006: The Queen
2005: Brokeback Mountain
2004: The Aviator
2003: The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
2002: The Pianist
2001: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
2000: Gladiator
